Encouraging Innovation through Hacking

The AOL Brazil team was looking for a way to grow their mobile ad business. As an emerging market with a big personality, the local agencies and advertisers were excited to take chances with their mobile creative, they just needed the tools and the push. I developed a tailored hackathon event to help educate them on the possibilities in mobile and to exercise the muscles of developing creative concepts in the medium. The teams were all to develop a creative concept around a theme that was important in the national consciousness – womens’ equality.

We ran the competition for 20 local creative teams in Sao Paulo,  and the winning team got an all expenses paid trip to SXSW. The day was amazing and we had a lot of great ideas and cool executions.
